Weekly Recs | February 9, 2025
A few things I enjoyed recently and maybe you will too.
Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a nice week. Low key over here. My husband has been off on a guys trip so I’ve been solo parenting and it’s been actually very chill! Lots of snow of course, so we’re hunkering down, but other than that - business as usual.
Any plans for the Super Bowl tonight? I think I’m staying home and cooking up some snacks. I’ll watch for the commercials and half time show but in general, I’m feeling kind of “eh” about this year’s show. I have some chores to do today, but overall, I’m envisioning a slow day with lots of reading, maybe a nap, and chips and dips for dinner.
+Highs: I took care of quite a few house projects this week/end and my weekly recs is really going to reflect that! I also spent a day power cleaning my house. A little early for spring cleaning, but things around here feel very fresh and well cared for. Plus I finally have hooks by my front door to catch all the coats and backpacks and what not!
+Lows: Still struggling with feeling like there’s a dark cloud circling around me. I feel discouraged and like I’m spinning my wheels without any traction. I truly think this feeling will lift once and for all when the weather warms up and I can catch some sunlight. In the meantime though, I’m pushing through. Everything is a phase.
Images are links too!
A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles // Currently reading and it is a treat! Taking place in in a luxury hotel after the Bolshevik revolution, a man is under house arrest for life. Imagine the cabin fever! The writing is effervescent and quippy and full of passages I want to highlight and remember forever. I’m just really enjoying and savoring this one. Every chapter is a story of its own.
Abercrombie Cable Knit Sweater // Really great sales over on Abercrombie in general, but I’m especially loving this cable knit in powder blue and bright cherry red.
Amazon Hooks // Command style installation, which is to say, easy. And they have a 20lb capacity. I put them up in my entry way for backpacks and coats, and a couple in the bathroom for towels.
Amazon Good Molecules Squalane Oil // Look, it’s deep wintertime in northern Michigan and I need a next level moisturizer. Fancy it is not, but a good oil it is. A bargain too. The bottle it comes in is comically tiny, but a little really does go a long way.
Urban Decay All Nighter Dewy Setting Spray // Better than the classic, IMO, specifically because of the lovely dewy finish it leaves. Smells like watermelon. I think I’ve found my ride or die setting spray.
Amazon iO Clean Screen Cleaner // My dog takes deep offense to animals on our TV, launching himself at the screen and barking like it’s a danger to our home. I mean, even cartoon animals. Seriously! Suffice to say, I have lots of speckles of his saliva on my screen and I was scared to clean it off without the proper materials, lest I scratch the screen. I finally purchased a set that includes safe-for-tv cleaning spray and a soft microfiber. Problem solved!
Amazon Rechargeable Wireless Lamps // I mean, these are everywhere lately so I’m not presenting anything new or exciting, but they came in handy this week during a short power outage. A wind storm knocked out our power for a good 30 minutes around 8pm and my kids were charmed, carrying these lamps from room to room!
Wayfair Round Dining Table // Purchased to take the place of the desk in my office. Honestly, I should have done this ages ago - the desk I have is antique and frankly made for when people were small because I literally could not fit my knees under the desk. I’ve been sitting awkwardly at an angle for years and starting to feel a crick in my back from hunching. I decided to swap it for something big, that I can keep a puzzle on along with my work stuff and laptop.
