Prime Day 2024 | Things I buy anyway + a few wishlist goodies

In our carts (and in our hearts)

Is every single GD thing on the internet on sale this week? I appreciate the healthy competition, but Circle Week, Prime Day, and Walmart week all piling in the first weeks of July. If you’re paying full price for anything, you’re wrong. It’s sale somewhere, trust me.

As previously discussed, this stresses me out after a while, so here’s my short list. Things I buy anyway, that I’ll just check to see if it’s on sale, and a few things I’ve had on my wishlist. Happy shopping friends!

Beauty

Look, I drone on about this endlessly, but boujee sunscreen is my love-language. I’m more apt to put it on if I feel like a superstar when I do. So Prime Day is a perfect time to load up on my holy-grail product, SunBum Glow 30, which gives you the nicest lit-from-within glow, while also protecting your skin. And I love love love everything that comes out of the Vacation brand.

I bought a UV curing light back in Covid times and I haven’t gotten a professional manicure since. There’s a learning curve, but if you have a steady hand, it’s easy. Endless long lasting manicures for the cost of one in a salon.

Such a sleeper product, but the Julep cream to powder eye shadow sticks are really great quality at a drugstore price point. They’re super creamy and smooth so they don’t drag your eyelid around (I hate that!) and have really good lasting power. I have a stack of these, but use the Pearl and Mauve colors most often.

Style

I’m a sucker for pink and red (or pink and orange - dealers choice) so this maxi dress spoke to me on first sight. Same goes with the striped boxer shorts, which is interesting on premise alone (comfy and on trend? You got me).

The mukluk rubber sandals have proven to be my shoe of choice this summer. I love that I can tromp around in them all over the ouse, into the office, and at the beach. Bang for zee buck.

And this supposed Skims dupe set. I’m leery of dupe culture in general (looks the same doesn’t mean performs the same, IMO) but these look cute and comfortable, which is enough for me.

Books

My birthday is coming up later this month and I almost always treat myself to full price books. These are the four on my short list:

All Fours by Miranda July - A woman upends her life. That’s it - I’m sold.

Such a Bad Influence by Olivia Muenter - so hyped I’m almost nervous that it can’t hold up, but I like a thriller, and I’m curious to read about influencer culture from an influencer.

1,000 Words by Jami Attenberg - I just enjoy writing motivation and Jami writes an inspiring substack about her 1,000 words project, so I want to give the book a read too.

Tin to Table by Anna Hezel - say no more! I love tiny fish and I love the idea of building meals around them.

Misc.

Loop earplugs entered my life when I lost my AirPods last month. I’ve since replaced those, but still reach for the loops when I just need the sound to be turned down a little, without completely drowning things out. I have a habit of sitting with my family in the living room together after dinner, and I pop these in to read while they watch TV and we’re all happy. I can hear them if they talk to me, but the outside sound isn’t otherwise overwhelming.

Get the drift air freshener for your car and thank me later. There is literally nothing that smells nicer. I get the teak scent.

Boring but functional are my go-to electrolyte drops. I got sick of spending $20+ for 6-piece powder packs that, IMO, are exorbitantly overpriced. Instead, I switched to these unflavored drops that do the trick, last a lot longer, and come in under $10.

Star, highlight, look here! This is my biggest, most genuine recommendation ever: a projector. We watch movies on the deck at night all summer long and it feels like an event. I bought mine a few years ago and it’s still going strong.

Wishlist

I am so into anklets lately and love this colorful stack. It’s a bargain too, so I won’t feel too bad if I move on from them quickly.

As everything early 2000s is on it’s swing back around on the trend merry-go-round, I welcome the return of Nalgene bottles with open arms. The original Stanley.

Kind of spendy for a snack, but I think these Shamless Snacks are the best tasting, not sugar laden treat for when I want gummy candy but not to feel like crap. Peach is my favorite, but the whole variety pack is on my wishlist.

The WOW Dream Coat is an influencer recommendation that, after watching her go from wet shower hair to a full blowout, I’m sold. At least, I really want to give it a good try.
