In my heart and in my cart + other things
In My Heart -
Hello! Happy Easter to those who celebrate, and happy stealing-candy-from-the-kids’-basket holiday to me! I’ve spent the week shopping strategically, crafting an egg hunt that will result in my kids asking aloud, “why would the Easter bunny bring us exactly 3 Almond Joys, mom? We hate them!” And I’ll just shrug. Weird!
I did pick up a bag of those peelable candies I keep seeing all over the internet. I think my kids will absolutely delight in them. Playing with your food and whatnot.
In other news, it wouldn’t be a weekend musing if I didn’t mention the weather. Only boring people are bored, they say! Well, I’ll keep chiming in about Michigan weather because that’s never boring to me. We started the week with snow, and ended it with blue skies and nearly 70º. Another perfectly appropriate opportunity to shrug. Weird x2!
Recently, inspired by the internet, I started keeping a list of good things that happened to me and friends, I’m telling you it’s every bit as uplifting as the internet suggested it would be. Even small stuff sounds particularly nice if you really think about it. This week has the following items:
Sat outside to drink a cup of coffee and read for a bit. Felt the sun on my face. Basked in it.
Had a surprisingly slow day at work and appreciated it, rather than getting frantic about it.
Had my favorite tacos from my favorite food truck that just reopened for the season. Related, our favorite ice cream shop also reopened this week.
All week, I kept a promise to myself to not hit snooze in the AM + not dink around scrolling on my phone in the PM. Reaffirming that I am a woman who does what she says she will do. What a confidence boost to make a baby size goal and actually keep it.
Related to the last, since I wasn’t on my phone in the evenings, I got a manicure, went for a walk, and played several rounds of Go Fish. I was stunned - all this! On a weekday, after work! I tell myself I don’t have time so often, and indeed I do. I often just misuse it.
Oh and broke out my summer sandals. She’s here baby! Spring, I mean!
See what I mean? Small potatoes, but I feel really good about each of those. It’s basically choosing to walk on the sunny side of the street, ya know? What nice things happened to you this week?
In My Cart -
Just for fun! A well priced touch of whimsy.
Versed // Versed used to make my holy grail product, Sunday Serum, a lightly oily moisturizer that just soaked right in. They discontinued it which bummed me out, but recently launched cosmetics and based on my previous experience, I am feeling very optimistic! I ordered the concealer serum, brush, and the daily gel cleanser. Will report back!
You know I love a seasonally appropriate puzzle and Palm Beach Pool Day Puzzle is scratching the itch. I’ll be mad when I’m down to a hundred identical blue pieces, putting together that pool. But the finished product!
What a fun rainbow tote for summer!
You guys know how I feel about Old Navy. I think this linen midi + button back top are so chic!
Related: Cute and if you run in store, still in time to make this your Easter get-up.
My Sephora order showed up yesterday and I am looking forward to test driving a few of the new-to-me goodies I got.
Other Things -
+I almost forgot this is the point. I dabbled in this IG trend this week, focusing on my friendship with my siblings. I definitely did not know the main plot when I was growing up and I had no idea that growing up to be friends with my sisters and my husband’s sisters would bring me so much joy. The first people I call with good news or bad. The people I send impromptu “wine walk to the beach to watch the sunset?” texts at 7:30 on a Friday night. The people who’s doors I would never knock on because I am walking right in. The people who’s kids I can spot a mile away, just like my own. I could go on and on.
+Following Caro Chamber’s Easter menu to a freaking T this weekend.
+When I say I want a Shirley Temple, this is what I mean.
+Oh fun! Looking forward to seeing more about the Harry Potter series coming to HBO…..eventually.
That’s it for me! Happy Weekending!
