In my heart and in my cart + other things.

If Q1 is for resolving ourselves, lingering new year, new me and whatnot, then Q2 is either celebrating people who actually turned resolutions into new routines, or breaking free of those gd resolutions in general. Based on my current state, I think I’m the latter.

I’ve been candid about this: I’m surviving, not thriving this season. I did what I needed to do to trudge across the Jan-Feb-March finish line and lately, that’s meant a Coke Zero + a bag of chips every day at 2pm. This is not in alignment with my budget or health goals, but here we are.

I’m a real self-soother though, quick to lean into something that makes me feel okay. Like getting the extra large fries or grabbing two snacks at the gas station. I need this, I think, and maybe I do. I often remind myself that these are the hardworking years - parenting, working full time, trying to create a solid foundation for the easier years - and maybe I really do just need those little treats to fuel the train to just keep chugging.

And also, maybe this is how I add sparkle to my life. Little things that I love (but probably shouldn’t).

Doritos, cheetos, hint of lime tortilla chips, corn nuts. Gas station snacks for life.
Buying stuff without trying it on, thinking I can just return it (and then definitely not returning it).
Eating in my car.
That giant $14 Costco vodka.
Scrolling on my phone while also watching something on TV. Screens on screens, baby.
Buying bottles of wine based on how fun the label is.

+I’ve been wearing these press on nails this week in I Like it Spicy. I’ve raved about this brand before: excellent staying power and you can’t beat a $10 manicure. I stick to the extra extra short options because they’re still soooo long IMO.

+We went to go see the new MineCraft movie last weekend and of course it was silly and not serious, but it was funny! Jason Mamoa made me crack up so much!

+ Did you watch the White Lotus finale? I was transfixed! I am cosigned 100% on this review of the final episode.
