Honest Beauty Reviews | Olive & June’s Press On Nails

I grew up in the late 90’s and early aughts and nothing says sophisticated or obviously professional to me like a fresh manicure, preferably with a French tip. Really harkens back to the early millennium, no? Back in the day, a set of acrylics and a trip to a nail salon was the only way, but now? A trip to Target is all you need. I’m more into fun colors and cute designs lately, so when I saw Olive & June’s press ons with a cute daisy motif, I impulse bought that box so hard. Let talk about how it went -

The Product

Olive & June Press On Nails - The Super Stick Mani or The Instant Mani

Application

We have two modes of application here, which is, in my opinion, the only real difference between the two options.

The Super Stick Mani: This one is a “tab” style press on. There is no messy tube of glue to plop on your nail bed. Instead, a sticker is applied to your nail and then you press the nail to it for 30 seconds or so, and et voila!

The Instant Mani: A classic application including a tube of glue that the instructions encourage you to apply to your nail and the press on. Lay on your fingernail and press down to adhere.

Wear

The Super Stick Mani: I got two weeks out of these before I peeled them off myself.

The Instant Mani: About 5 days from this set before I lost one. I reapplied the missing nail and lost another one the next day. So I think 5-7 days max is realistic.

Removal

The Super Stick Mani: Easy. I used an orange stick to create space between my natural nail and the press on, pulling them off without any damage. Then I used acetone to remove any sticky residue.

The Instant Mani: Some of the nails pulled right now, and others were locked on so tight, it took some of my natural nail with them. There’s probably a safer way to take these off though, so this may be negligence on my end. That said, I definitely preferred the easy removal of the tab version.

Review

I strongly preferred the Super Stick Mani version - the one with the sticker tabs - over the Instant Mani. Longevity obviously played a role since I wore them for nearly double the time, but I will say that they take a little getting used to. The sticker tab feels less rigid than a glued-on nail, and at first, they feel really wiggly and less secure. My theory is that the sticker tabs give the nails some flexibility, which feels funky but ultimately helps them stay put longer. If you bump your nails on something hard, it’ll shift with the sticker for a moment, rather than being popped off. When I was ready for something new, removing them was a breeze and there was zero damage.

The Instant Mani, with a more classic glue system, definitely feels more secure and there’s no wiggle at all. But if they get knocked around, it doesn’t have the flexibility and it’s much easier to accidentally knock off a nail. I lost the first one while making my bed. After my third loss, I decided to give it up and take them all off. As mentioned, three of my natural nails were damaged in the process, and looked pretty rough. I could have been more careful for sure, but since I found the Super Stick Mani to be so easy to remove, I’ll use those moving forward.

Both options have SO many designs and colors to choose from, as well as sizes and shapes, so there’s definitely something in either system for everyone. Ultimately I loved the Super Stick Mani and will use it again and again.
