Summer Weekend Must Haves

It is finally sweet summertime baby! One of my big focuses this year is living like I’m on vacation without actually being on vacation, because work and laundry and whatnot has me locked down most days of the week. So I’m maximizing on my weekends, filling them with summery things like getting ice cream after dinner, going to the beach, and reading outside in the afternoon sun.

Wears

The Perfect Jean Shorts | a good inseam, loose around the thighs, and a decent rise. These are perfect for bumming around at home, or slipping on over a swimsuit and heading to the beach.

Crochet Knit Swim Suit | don’t come at me for functionality, but in terms of cuteness, this one checks the box.

Linen Maxi | now come to me for functionality. Is there anything easier than a slip on dress that requires no further work? No, there is not!

Halter Maxi Dress | I stand by the above statement. Easy pull on dresses: so nice, I picked ‘em twice.

Accessories

Lands End Striped Canvas Tote | whatever you’re shlepping, it’s bound to fit in this carry-all. Just look at all the pockets!

Lands End Hunter Lou Sunglasses | Comes in a myriad of color ways, but for me, it’s the cream color.

Urban Outfitters Flip Flops | A nice upgrade on the classic rubber flip flop.

Birkenstock Madrids |

Sunscreen

Don’t you freaking dare forget to put on sunscreen!

SunBum SPF 30 | a classic with good reason. It smells like childhood summers spent at the beach and better yet, does the trick. Reapply!

Vacation Brand Orange Gelee | a boujee pick, but whatever it takes to incentivize putting on SPF is a win in my book.

SunBum Cool Down | if you do get a little cooked, keep this stuff in the fridge for instant relief.

Vacation Brand After Sun Gel | nobody does scent better than Vacation Brand, and this after sun gel is a delight to slather on after a day in the sun.

Something to Read

Somethings just feel like summer, and a good beach read is one of them!

Funny Story by Emily Henry | The queen of the romantic comedy has delivered, just in time for summer. Daphne is engaged to Peter. Petra is engaged to Miles. An unlikely friendship (and maybe more?!) builds when Peter leaves Daphne for Petra. Who else can understand her pain except Miles?

The Sicilian Inheritance by Jo Piazza | Things are really going sideways for Sara who is feeling like a failure at just about everything. When her beloved Aunt Rosie passes away, it feels like a breaking point. This family saga takes us to Italy for a murder mystery and deluxe descriptions of the Sicilian island.

One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle | Katy is devastated when her mother passes away just before a trip they’d planned together to Italy. She decides to go anyway, and imagine her surprise when she runs into her mother in her hotel lobby. As if that’s not weird enough, it’s her mom at 30 years old.

Astor by Anderson Cooper and Katherine Howe | If you prefer a more educational read, the Story family history will not only prepare you for Jeopardy, but also is an intriguing saga. Starting with the first John Jacob, all the way to the last Aster in the early 2000s, the story of how the money was made and how it was lost will consume you.
