What’s on Your Wanted Sign?
A fun exercise.
A couple of days ago, I wandered up to the offices of our Client Services team, which like every other team at work, has an open space with a bunch of cubicles. We don’t love it, but it does nurture really good chats and this was one of those days. PS, it was a Friday afternoon, so we were all checked out. Frankly I was up there not because I needed anything - I was bored and wanted to get away from my desk for a minute. They’re a quick jog up some stairs and can always be counted on to be doing something entertaining and boy, was I right this time. They were in the midst of a hot conversation:
What would be on your wanted sign?
Ooh! Okay, so the gist is that you’re wanted and on the run, and look, none of us are actual felons (I think), so you’re wanted for some non-criminal offense, but rather the basically bad behavior that you’re consistently guilty of. Say, reheating fish in the office microwave. That kind of thing.
It was hilarious! We have the boss, who was wanted for buying new books with a stack of TBRs already at home. We have one gal who is wanted for always setting her cruise control exactly 7 miles over the speed limit. My (secret) favorite CS rep was guilty of watching episodes of a show without his girlfriend and then pretending he’s never seen it when they sit down to watch it together. It was great dialogue!
I’m wanted for optimistically buying bagged salads at the grocery store and letting them rot in my fridge. Guilty as charged!
So now, I’m curious - what’s on your wanted sign?
Bits and Bobs -
+What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty // I run hot and cold with this author’s endings, but I usually find the lead up to be very engaging and so far, that seems to be the case with this book. Alice bopped her head at the gym. She wakes up having forgotten the last 10 years, which is is troublesome because while she believes she’s a 29 year old, pregnant newlywed, she is indeed a 39 year old mother of three in the middle of a divorce. So….that’s a surprise.
+Thinking spring! It’s called manifesting baby, and as such, I’m stocking up on SPF, a packable hat that I can toss in a beach bag, and fun beach towels.
+Not Catholic, but I participate in Lent every year because I think it helps me create some mindfulness around things I’m obsessed with. In the past, I’ve given up Target, Instagram, sugar - etc. It’s coming up, so I’m starting to think about it now. Curious - do you give anything up for Lent?
+I put on these Chillhouse press on nails last night and my only gripe is that they’re wildly long. But that fixable qualm aside, they are SO fun. I would never be able to create this design myself. My press on go-to is usually Olive and June, so I’ll report back on these.
+Spotted these butterbear flavored Goldfish while on a Target run this weekend. I mean, I’ll try ‘em!
+What are you watching lately? I’m into White Lotus, but also recently started Succession and loving it. My husband and I crushed Scamanda on Hulu and promptly had Apple Cider Vinegar recommended to us as well. How can there be two shows about women faking cancer at the same time! Seems cray that it even happens that many times! Anyway, I like to keep a strong to-be-watched list, so if you have recs, I’d love to hear them!
PS -
Would love to see you over on IG. I haven’t given up for Lent just yet!
Talking TV over on substack too.
My honest review on Olive and June press on nails.
