Three Really Good Books
Gold stars!
The year is young, but boy are we off to a good start! I read three really great books recently that I wanted to share in case you’re looking for a slam dunk. And they’re wildly different types of reads, so if one ain’t it - give the next one a try.
Speaking of which, I’m going to tell you more about me as a reader, because I do think knowing what I like and gravitate to can help you decide on the front end if my recommendations will suit you. I follow a handful of bookish influencers and sometimes they recommend things that just, like…suck. Or our reviews for the same book will be wildly different. And that’s no criticism - we’re different. We like different things. So anyway, here’s what I like -
I love memoirs and biographies most - things like Educated and The Astors. I’ll also pick up dang near anything about the British royal family.
I generally enjoy literary fiction and historical fiction, and will always try a bestseller list because I like to be in the know.
I really love anything from David Sedaris and increasingly, from Stanley Tucci. Actually, I think I like to read about food in general because Anthony Bourdain never missed, either.
Ina Garten’s book is on my TBR list, and so is the Flamingo Estate coffee table book.
I’m kind of neutral about self-help. Sometimes I force myself to read some at the beginning of the year, but in general, it’s a forced read. I’m not really into it.
So that’s me! What’s your reading flavor?
On to the books!
